On Sunday, 21 February, COC Leiden was host to 0031 Lunch, themed 'Got kicked out before breakfast?' Fırat had cooked up a delicious Turkish style meal, which went down well with the guests, from countries as diverse as Germany, the US, England, Colombia, and Azerbaijan. Report: The Other Side of Istanbul

On Friday 6 February, COC Leiden organised a Turkish night under the title 'Blowing a different waterpipe'. Some 60 visitors got together to watch The Other Side of Istanbul, a documentary about the lives of a number of young gays and transsexuals in Istanbul. A discussion with director Döndü Kılıç, who was also present, and Turkey co-ordinator Pieter Boone of COC Netherland followed up on the film.
The event made it to the frontpage of the local newspaper Leids Nieuwsblad on Wednesday 11 February. An abridged translation and adaptation of the original article by Mariëtte van Beek is now available.
